In baseball, you must submit a lineup card before each game. This is your batting order, and gives umpires, fans, and media a glimpse at who will be hitting where for the game. Usually these are fluid and change by day. You can adjust and change this in MLB The Show 23, too. Just like a MLB manager, you can customize who trots out the plate at what point in the order.
This is a straight-forward task in The Show. It will come down to the nine cards selected at positions on the diamond in the Manage Team section, or what cards are on your selected teams roster.
When you continue into a game, you will be given a screen with the batting order present. You can adjust who bats where by selecting the player and moving them up or down to swap them with the player in the position you want your already selected player. It really is as easy as that.
There are some advanced options to consider, such as the meta or personal preference. In most cases, speed leads off the lineup followed by power hitters in the 2-4 spots. After that, it is usually a mixed bag of things you can do. It can also go by best hitter down to worst, it is all up to you and what you play best with.
Overall, this concept is not rocket science. Setting a batting order is quite easy if you know your players and the game. At the end of the day, it is however you play best. Just make sure to set your lineup before the game starts!
