In baseball, healthy and energized pitching is vital to hurling the best pitches to the mound. When a player is too tired, they may not throw where you want or at a good speed or velocity. This is where relief pitchers come into play, and they’re crucial to team success. The proper utilization of a bullpen wins or loses games.
In MLB The Show 23, it is extremely important to know when it is time to pull the plug on your starting pitcher. If you keep using overtired pitchers, they are more likely to throw wild pitches and have a lack of velocity to their arm. It is good to know when to sub them out and keep them fresh for their next appearance on the mound.
First, you need to warm up your reliever of choice. If you don’t, there is a higher chance they get injured or underperform. You can warm up your bullpen by simply pausing the game and going to the Manager tab. You can also press up on the d-pad to bring up the Quick Menu. Once in the bullpen, you can select the pitcher you want to ready and choose the Warm Up option. If you are looking to wait a bit to put this pitcher in, you can choose the Stretch and Toss option. View their progress in the bullpen or on the pause menu.
It takes around three batters for a hurler to fully warm up. You can choose to have a Mound Visit (one per inning), but pitchers have to wait three batters to be subbed in.
To refuel your pitcher, simply don’t use them for a couple games. Gradually, they will rest up and be ready to pitch that perfect game you have always wanted.
